Sunriver, Oregon

Oh, summer. How lovely you are, especially when spent in Central Oregon, which just so happens to be one of my favorite places.

Here’s why: Amazing weather, clear blue skies, a sparkling river, miles of bike trails, great restaurants, and, in my case, family! For sixteen years now, my whole family has met up in Sunriver, Oregon to spend a week together.

This year’s trip was full of sunshine, laughs with my cousins, and delicious food. Because it is such a wonderful place, I wanted to share it with all of you!

…..          …..          …..

Considered a “resort community,” Sunriver lies bedside the beautiful Deschutes River amongst a forest of pine trees about 20 miles south of Bend, Oregon. Fun stores (including a candy & ice cream shop), beautiful golf courses, great restaurants, pools and aquatic centers, a marina on the river, stables offering horseback riding, and miles & miles of bike trails help to make up this location. There is always something to do in Sunriver.

During my family’s five days here, we rode our bikes, checked out the river’s Benham Falls (a breathtaking series of Class 5 rapids), tubed down the Deschutes, ate delicious Peruvian food, shopped, lounged by the pool, and even tried indoor surfing, all the while enjoying the gorgeous locale and enjoying each other’s company.

Went for a beautiful bike ride along the river.

Here were some of my favorites throughout the week:

Wearing: Orange Maxi (Rue 21, sold out; similar here & here) //  Light Pink Shorts (Old Navy) // Double-Strap Sandals (Old Navy) // Gold & Pink Sunglasses (Old Navy) // Black Ruffle One Piece Swimsuit (Target)

Modeling isn’t hard when the sky already looks like this!

Reading: Cherry Blossoms in the Storm, a novel about a Japanese American family caught in the chaos of World War II.

Listening: III — Hillsong Young & Free

Eating: Salmon galore! Grilled salmon with mashed potatoes, salmon burgers with fries — there’s nothing better than fresh fish when you’re by the river.

Drinking: Belgian Lattes from Brewed Awakenings — a vanilla latte drizzled with real caramel. Need I say more? I was obsessed with these the whole trip and have decided that Brewed Awakenings is probably my favorite coffee shop I’ve ever visited.

The best latte I’ve ever had. (Also noteworthy: the shop’s slogan is “Down the Street From Ordinary”!)

My sisters and I all say that Sunriver is our favorite place in the world because of how beautiful it is. I’ve never seen a bad sunset here.

If anyone is looking for a vacation destination in the Pacific Northwest, try this place out! You won’t be disappointed, I promise.

Thanks for reading, and I cannot wait to talk to you all again soon.

Sincerely,
